Manny smiled at her reflection in the mirror. Emma had some kind of enviromentalist conference tonight, and refused to go with Manny and her cousin Liz. Liz was twenty-two, and she was by far Manny's favorite cousin. Liz lived right next door to Manny's parents house, so she hadn't seen much of her favorite cousin since she was kicked out. Liz stood behind her, looking through Emma's closet.

"Man, judging by this girl's clothes, I wouldn't have believed for a second you two were friends. I mean c'mon! Look at these jeans! They're so unflattering!" Liz complined. Manny merely laughed. "Oh, lay off her. She's not big on style, but I'm working on it." Manny said as she applied her mascara. Tonight, she was wearing a little skimpy blue dress and large white dangling earrings with high spiky silver heels. Emma's parents thought Manny and Liz were going to a family reunion. Even though the Nelson-Simpson family was very loose, they would never approve of Manny going to a club. "Alright. Let's go. I've had enough of this." Manny laughed at her cousin and walked out and into Liz's small stylish black car. Manny had invited Darcy to go clubbing with them tonight, so they were stopping by her house first. Liz pulled into Darcy's driveway and honked the horn. Manny cleared a spot for Darcy in the back seat, waiting for her to walk out of the house to greet them.

Darcy bit her lip as she waited in her garage for Manny to pick her up. She had told her parents that she was going with a girl from Spirit Squad to the movies, and thankfully they had believed her. One of the benefits of normally not lying was that she was always believed when she did chose to bend the truth. As soon as she had gotten into the garage, her white skirt had been shortened to mini length and the denim jacket had come off to reveal a pink halter. These were clothes that she had bought after school and hidden in the back of her closet to prevent Claire from finding them. Her usual wardrobe was much more modest and she didn't feel like getting a speech from her parents. She would like going to a club with Manny Santos dressed like she was going to Sunday school even less than that. Finally, the car pulled up and Darcy ran out to meet it before her parents decided to come out to say hello. As soon as she got into the car and saw what Manny was wearing, she was especially glad she hadn't lingered.

Darcy opened the door and climbed into the backseat, managing not to kill herself in the process. She loved her high white stillettos, even if they did make walking difficult. She could walk normally in them, but she still had a few problems getting into cars with them. She turned to Manny and smiled. "Hi," she said, more than a little excited about going. Finally, something to do. She turned her attention to the driver in the front seat who she assumed to be Liz. "Thanks for bringing me along."
